F/V Seabrooke

May 20, 2013

Earlier this week outside of the local True Value hardware store, I ran into Scott Campbell Jr, captain of the Kodiak based fishing vessel Seabrooke. Both Scott and I grew up and went to high school here in Kodiak. He graduated just a few years ahead of me. We talked about current dock prices for everything from halibut to Pacific cod. While the Discovery Channel crab show has made Scott famous, he really didn’t mind taking 20 minutes to stop and talk fish.

This morning he invited me down to take some pictures down on the boat. Over in Dog Bay, I found him and his crew busy setting up the deck for salmon tendering up in Prince William Sound near Cordova. They were installing a brand new Transvac pump for pumping salmon into the fish holds.

The Seabrooke will be leaving Kodiak later next week for the start of the salmon fishery in Prince William Sound where the fishermen will be targeting chum salmon and then pinks later in the season.

When the salmon season is over Capt. Scott and the Seabrooke will gear up for another king crab season starting October 15th.
