The F/V Nuka Island returned to Kodiak this weekend with their final load of Opilio Tanner Crab for the 2013 season. A gale warning in the forcast delayed the opening for 24 hours, but the storm blew through and pots started hitting the water at noon Wednesday. The 2010 Kodiak area tanner crab fishery closes this weekend. This year, 52 vessels ranging in size from 40 to 100 feet set their pots on the 15th hoping to catch part of the 700,000 pound quota.
